Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

Do you accept HSA or FSA payments?

Yes. TotalSkin accepts HSA and FSA cards on eligible medical-grade skincare items.

Which products qualify for HSA or FSA use?

Only products classified as medical-grade or physician-directed are eligible. Cosmetic or beauty-only items do not qualify. Products that automatically qualify are listed in our HSA/FSA collection. Other products may qualify by answering a short online survey.

Do I need a prescription to use my HSA or FSA?

Many products automatically qualify without a prescription. Other products require a Letter of Medical Necessity. Don't worry - we'll walk you through the approval process with a short survey.

Can I buy cosmetic skincare with my HSA or FSA?

Products that are purely cosmetic, anti-aging, beauty enhancing, or non-treatment focused are not eligible under IRS rules.

How do I check if a product is eligible?

Products that automatically qualify are listed under our HSA/FSA collection. Other products can qualify with a short survey.

What happens if my HSA or FSA card declines?

It can mean that either you have depleted your HSA/FSA funds, or that the product isn’t automatically recognized as eligible. You can pay with another method at checkout, then file a manual claim with your HSA or FSA administrator.

Can I buy gift cards with HSA or FSA funds?

No. Gift cards are classified as non-eligible purchases.

Can I get an itemized receipt for reimbursement?

Yes. TotalSkin receipts include the information needed for reimbursement.

Do HSA and FSA funds expire?

HSA funds roll over year to year. Most FSA funds expire at the end of the plan year, unless your plan offers a grace period.

If I return an item, how are HSA or FSA refunds handled?

Refunds go back to the original HSA or FSA card. If the card is closed, speak with your benefits provider to find out how to handle adjustments.

What do I need to do with my Letter of Medical Necessity?

Nothing, we'll handle the entire process. Once you've been approved by our licensed providers, we will file all necessary documentation and it will be on file for any purchase through TotalSkin for one year.

How long does my Letter of Medical Necessity last?

Once approved, your Letter of Medical Necessity will last for one year.
